Where Seasons Boldly Collide

A rare and fleeting alignment of weather systems drapes the ancient stone amphitheater of the mountain pass in a stark mantle of early snow, sharply juxtaposed against the brilliant peak-season foliage blanketing the valley floor. In this dense northeastern hardwood ecosystem, the deciduous canopy undergoes its annual chemical shift as dropping autumn temperatures dismantle green chlorophyll, unveiling rich yellow carotenoids and deep orange anthocyanins. Simultaneously, a cold front pushing across the high elevations has coated the exposed, glacially carved granite summits with a pristine glaze, capturing a dramatic, multi-seasonal landscape where winter and autumn wage a visual tug-of-war.
