Giants on the Shore
The icy Tasman tide receded slowly, leaving behind a surreal graveyard of colossal, weathered stones half-buried in the golden sand. Following a solitary path through the maze, I walked among these ancient, rounded behemoths as they glistened with a thin sheen of salt water under a restless, grey winter sky. The air was wild and biting, carrying a heavy marine spray from the distant breakers crashing against the headland. In this raw meeting place of mountain and sea, the massive boulders stood like silent, petrified sentinels—smooth, rounded, and enduring—reminding me just how fleeting our own footsteps are on these untamed edges of the world.
