Where Autumn Meets Ocean

Standing on the high, clay-carved bluffs of the Bayfield Peninsula, the crisp autumn air carries the thunderous roar of Lake Superior crashing into a hidden, crescent-shaped cove. Down below, rolling crests of emerald and deep teal water surge toward a dark, pebbled shoreline, breaking into brilliant lines of white surf that rush the sand. Crowning the rugged sandstone shelf, a dense forest stands dressed in its absolute finest peak colors—vibrant canopies of fiery sugar maples, bright yellow birches, and steadfast green pines crowd the cliff's edge. In the hazy distance, the long, low silhouette of an outlying island rests under a soft, blanketed gray sky, capturing a scene of pure, untamed northern wilderness where the forest surrenders directly to the continuous push of the lake.
