Mirror of the Cliffs
The dawn air hung heavy with the scent of salt and damp earth as the tide slowly retreated, leaving behind a perfectly still ribbon of water on the shore. These imposing limestone massifs, cloaked in ancient greenery, seemed to stretch outward to meet their own pristine reflections cast upon the glassy pool below. Every ridge of stone and patch of jungle was doubled by the sand-bound mirror, creating a fleeting symmetrical world where the sky and sea seamlessly unified before the morning waves could shatter the illusion.
How to capture
To capture a high-end landscape image like this, a photographer must plan their shoot around a low tide that coincides with the golden hour, ensuring the receding water leaves a smooth puddle on the flat sand. Utilizing a wide-angle lens allows you to frame both the towering rock faces and their complete reflection, while dropping the tripod to a low perspective maximizes the mirror effect of the foreground pool. A circular polarizer can help manage surface glare, and a graduated neutral-density filter balances the bright morning sky with the darker, shadow-cast details of the rocky shore.
